Day 01 : Chennai - Mahabalipuram
Morning pick-up from advised location/Airport in Chennai & drive to Mahabalipuram. On arrival, check into the hotel and freshen up. After that, we will proceed for a city sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram. The first stop will be the Shore Temple, which is the oldest structure in the area, built in 700 AD. This temple has been here for more than 1400 years and has a landscaped park surrounding it. A Shiva lingam is enshrined in the central building and the site can get very crowded on weekends.
Next, we will visit the Five Rathas (Pancha Pandava Rathas), which contains five chariots dating from the 7th century. The sculptures are complemented by some enormous stone animals, including a large elephant.
After the sightseeing tour, we will have lunch and then you can have some free time for relaxation. In the evening, you can explore the local markets or take a walk on the beach. Later, return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 02: Mahabalipuram
Morning pick-up from advised location/Airport in Chennai & drive to Mahabalipuram. On arrival, check into the hotel. After freshening up, enjoy a leisurely morning. After lunch, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram. Visit Thirukadalmallai temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and built by Pallava King to safeguard the sculptures from the ocean. Next, visit the Sculpture Museum on East Raja Street, which has hundreds of sculptures in stone, wood, and other materials. Explore the famous structures like Arjuna's Penance, Krishna's Butterball, Mahishamardini Cave, and Varaha Cave. The scenery within the hills is quite unusual, with smooth rock rising out of the forest and carved stairways leading between the mandapas (pavilions), caves, and carvings. You can also chill on the sandy beach for relaxation or enjoy boat rides in the Bay of Bengal with life guards, fishing trips to the sea & Turtle walk at the sea shore. Later in the evening, return back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Mahabalipuram.
Day 03: Mahabalipuram - Chennai
Morning at leisure. After breakfast, check out from the hotel and visit the famous Dakshinachitra Cultural Village, which showcases the living traditions and lifestyles of different regions of South India. You can watch artisans at work, learn about traditional crafts, and enjoy cultural performances. Afternoon drive back to Chennai and check into the hotel. In the evening, you can explore the bustling city on your own or go for some last-minute shopping. On the final day, after breakfast, you can visit Fort St. George and Museum, the first English fortress in India, built in 1644. Then, depending on your departure time, you will be transferred to the airport or advised location in Chennai. End of the services.
